What is VISA waiver program?

The Visa Waiver Program (VWP) is a program of the U.S. government that allows citizens of certain countries to travel to the United States for tourism or business for stays of 90 days or less without obtaining a visa. The program was created to facilitate travel and improve relations with participating countries, and it allows eligible travelers to apply for admission to the United States at the port of entry, rather than applying for a visa at a U.S. consulate. As of 2021, eligible countries are mostly located in Europe, but some other countries like Japan, Singapore, South Korea, Taiwan, Australia and New Zealand are also eligible. Eligibility for the program is determined by the U.S. government and can change over time.
