Filled in information is no longer up to date

If the traveler’s personal situation has changed so that the information provided in the ESTA application is out of date, this may also invalidate the ESTA. The ESTA expires instantly if the traveler:

  • Getting a new passport
  • Takes a new name or surname
  • Changes nationality or gender
  • Moves to another country
  • Can no longer answer all safety questions with “no.”

ESTA remains in effect if the traveler:

  • Moves, but stays in the same country
  • Changed contact person
  • Changes the date of travel or address of residence in the U.S.
  • Wants to go to the U.S. for another purpose.
